Halikunas is located on Lake Korission (salt water). The sandy beach is 3 km long. You will find shopping facilities in the nearest village of Agios Matheos or Messonghi and Moraitika, which are approximately 5-6 km away.
Halikunas is a peaceful retreat offering a seemingly endless sandy beach with a few tavernas serving local specialities. The lake provides a safe haven for many rare bird species and this area has generally escaped the ravages of tourism. Apart from the main Prasoudi beach, other sandy coves such as Skidi, Kanouli and Prasoudi offer a quiet spot for sunbathing and the swimming is excellent. Despite its peaceful seclusion, Chalikouna is just an easy drive of 8 kms from the popular beach resort of Agios Georgios (south) and 6 kms from the busy night life in Messonghi and Moraitika.
The magnificent Castle at Gardiki although partially demolished has a distinct Byzantine feature that pervades the entire edifice.
One can view the castle right from the entrance of Gardiki village. Renowned scholars of Corfu equate this marvelous Castle with the magnificent Angelokastro Fort. This is primarily because of the fact that the castle was built during the same period and what is more, by the same Archbishop.
The castle is conspicuous by its octagonal shape and an ellipsoidal attachment. The bordering parapets were adorned
with traditional Byzantine artworks. The vestiges that one can see on the right hand side of the main entrance are believed to belong to the in-house chapel.
The castle’s idyllic location in the picturesque village of Gardiki due south of the island, in close proximity to the village of Agios Matthaeos attracts hordes of tourists every year.
The castle is renowned for its impregnable fortifications that defended the residents of Corfu on numerous occasions from the marauding and all conquering enemies.
In the present times, one must admit that its ramparts are impeccably preserved and it is a sheer delight just to visit the castle, though the castle is partially destroyed.
Apart from the principal castle, there are numerous other ancient edifices strewn around the castle’s surrounding areas, and each one unique in their architectural features. The fact that the castle is nestled in the midst of verdant Olive groves, imparts a touch of ethereal beauty to the castle’s surroundings.

The lake KORISSION (6.300 acres) and the magnificent golden beach (3 km length) Halikouna compose a magnificent landscape of water and dunes. In the back is the mountain Pantokrator with homonym on top monastery, the mountain known as the "GAMILIO OROS", a name from the mythical years, said there were marriages of Jason and Medea after Argonautic campaign in the year 390bC.
The villa Caretta with 100% privacy with fence around it secures a *private* accommodation in an area of 3000sq.m., with a very big garden with grass and trees around-children play corner, BBQ corner, from the first floor with nicer view to the lake Korission, the sea and mountain, with large safe parking spaces and perfect places for families with children or groups up to 12 persons.
The villa can comfortably accommodate 6 adults in 3 seperate bedrooms, each bedroom with private WC/shower with hydromassage and the master bedroom upstairs with Wirlpool. All the bedrooms have a big Veranda with nice sea view and view to the nearby green small forest.
Downstairs there is a comfortable livingroom and full equipped kitchen incl. washmashine and dishwasher. All the bedrooms and the livingroom are provided with Flat Sat - TV, A/C and free Wi Fi internet. In the downstairs double bedroom there is a small office corner where you find also a Tel/fax and printer, in case you want from your holiday villa to be connected sometimes with your business !
The Villa Meliti and Villa Caretta is possible to be rented also together for 12 persons, then you can open the gate from the pool side and you are nearer to each other whenever you want.

The independent villa Caretta is about 140 sq.m, very quiet located and very comfortable !!!!
The villa with a huge plot of more thanf 3000 square meters mostly with trees and grass, with beautiful pool 58m2, big verandas with spectacular views to the pool and green area . The Barbeque ready at the pool side will offer you the quiet evenings the chance to try your own grill abilities and your culinary delights.
